Meter Replacement Program

The Sanford Water District is replacing the remaining obsolete generator style residential meters with new meters.  This will bring all District meters into compliance with current standards and regulations, and will allow the District to read the meters more accurately and efficiently.  The District has hired USI Services, Inc. to install the meters. USI will be contacting customers with older obsolete meters and asking them to set up an appointment to change out their meter. Once a customer receives a letter, they can make appointments by calling USI at 1-888-709-9944 between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday thru Friday or log on to www.usiconnect.com to setup an appointment online. The customer will need the Work Order Number and Service Code Number at the top of their letter to setup an appointment online. Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Please do not contact the Water District to make this appointment as we will simply redirect you to USI.

Installation time is approximately 30 minutes. It will be necessary to enter your residence for a short time during installation. Please make sure that the area around the meter is accessible to the installer.

USI installers all undergo extensive background checks. All installers will have photo identification badges and will be driving clearly marked vehicles. Their names and vehicle information will be on file with the Sanford Police Department.  Customers will be contacted by mail to make appointments, the letters set to customers will be on Sanford Water District letterhead.  Installers will not go to your property without an appointment.  If you question the identity or validity of someone identifying themselves as a USI installer, please contact either the Sanford Water District at (207) 324-2312 or the Sanford Police Department at (207) 324-3644.  Please do not let someone into your home if you have not made an appointment to have your meter changed.
